University City, sometimes called University Area or U-City, surrounds the University of North Carolina at Charlotte campus. University is found in northeastern Mecklenburg County, southeast of I-85 and predominantly along University City Boulevard (NC 49) and W.T. Harris Boulevard (NC 24). University is near the towns of Harrisburg to the east and Concord to the northeast.
University has an estimated population of more than 155,000 within its unofficial borders and is home to the University Research Park, one of the largest research parks in the state, the PNC Music Pavilion, Charlotte Motor Speedway, and Concord Mills Mall.
